5 Benefits of IV Therapy & Why It Might Be Right For You

September 9, 2021 by Dr. Daniel Hoover

5 Benefits of IV Therapy & Why It Might Be Right For You

What’s the first thought that came to mind when you read “IV Therapy”?

It might have been: “I don’t want to go to the hospital” or “what the heck is that” or “ will this help me”

If you haven’t heard of IV therapy today we want to take you on a little journey with us. We invite you to discover the benefits of IV therapy. Let’s dive right in.

Benefit #1: Increased Immune System Function

We haven’t had a patient yet who said they wanted less immune function. In today’s environment it’s more important than ever to give your body the best defenses possible. Your immune system fights for you! You want to give your body as much help as possible.

IV therapy aids your immune system by delivering vitamins and antioxidants directly to your cells. Why is this amazing? Normally vitamins would have to go through your digestive system. By going direct to the bloodstream we are able to aid your body with the absorption of vitamins.

Benefit #2: Migraine Headaches

If you have never had a migraine headache, count yourself fortunate. They are brutal. Some patients experience these headaches that last hours, are debilitating, and have one sensitive to light among other symptoms.

One of the treatments that has proven effective in treating migraines is IV drip therapy. Why does this work?

It works through what is included in the trip. Several of the components of the IV therapy we use here at SOHMA is that it contains Magnesium and Vitamin B and Vitamin B12. This, along with the other ingredients, has proven to help those with migraines.

Benefit #3: Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS)

The name of this ail condition sounds more pleasant than it really is. Many think “oh it’s just being tired”. Unfortunately it’s far worse than that. Imagine having muscle pain, headaches, chronic sore throat, and on top of all that being tired for weeks, months or even years.

IV therapy is unique, as we mentioned earlier, in that it delivers directly to your cells. We put ingredients in to help you and to help your body.

For CFS components of the IV drip such as Vitamin C, potassium, and sodium chloride have proven effective in the treatment of CFS. If you are interested in reading a study about it we encourage you to visit IV micronutrient therapy benefits.

Benefit #4: Detoxification

There can be materials in your body that are harmful. These toxic materials can cause issues and challenges for your body leading to other health issues.

IV therapy has been used to detoxify by slowly introducing positive materials that the body can use to rid itself of these toxic chemicals. In detoxification amino acids and Vitamins are introduced into your body aiding in replenishment for your body and your bodies systems.

Benefit #5: Adrenal Fatigue

The adrenal glands are located on top of the kidneys and they do a tremendous amount of work. Just a few of the activities they do is regular metabolism, blood pressure, and aid in your immune system.

Similar to any system these glands can get overworked. Stress in your life, not getting enough rest, or genetics play a role in overworking the systems in the body.

IV therapy aids in helping the body’s system get nutrients it may be lacking.

Visit SOHMA for an Olympic Experience

August 18, 2016 by SOHMA

With the Olympics in full swing this month, it is nearly impossible to miss the strange, purple spots on the athletes’ backs, shoulders, and legs (including US swimmer and 23-time Gold medalist, Michael Phelps). These marks are often a result of cupping treatment, which comes from an ancient Chinese practice that is used by many practitioners in the Eastern world.
The benefits of cupping are extensive, including stimulating blood flow in the area, reducing soreness, and speeding up recovery. It is intended to remove toxins and stimulate healing by increasing blood to the focus area. While it may look painful, it is actually very therapeutic, and many patients have reported feeling a completely painless experience. Traditionally, cupping is used to treat back and neck pain, high blood pressure, anxiety, fatigue, and even respiratory problems.
At SOHMA Integrative Health Center, we offer a traditional form of cupping treatment, known as fire cupping. Our acupuncturist uses fire to create a vacuum seal along specific points of the body. It creates heat and suction to that specific area, and the cups stay on for usually 5-10 minutes.
If it’s good enough for Olympic athletes, it is good for you. Book your appointment at SOHMA Integrative Health Center so you can get your Olympic therapy treatment today.

Tips for Growing Young At Any Age

November 28, 2015 by SOHMA

George Bernard Shaw once said, “We don’t stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing.” Indeed, if you’ve ever thought, “this is normal for my age” or “it’s due to old age”, then you might be limiting your potential.
While there are many age-related challenges, most are not. Yes, as we mature, there are certain changes that are inevitable, from the accumulation of oxidative stress to general wear and tear from gravity. However, while most of today’s “age-related” complaints seem normal, they are often just common. They are the result of behaviors and choices we make over a lifetime that have been accepted as normal, and which accelerate the aging process. Common (unhealthy) behaviors that have been normalized (and contribute to rapid aging) are eating processed foods, living a sedentary lifestyle, and “growing up” and attributing every ache, cold, memory lapse, etc. to getting older.
Here at SOHMA, we encourage patients to look to the “exceptions to the rule” of aging. We invite patients to notice the differences in those who are amazing examples of graceful aging–to notice how they eat, move, and think. In fact, studies have revealed that aging is related to a sociological phenomenon. People age based on how the people around them age. Look to the cultures that have more centenarians than anyone else. What are they doing differently? How do they feel about their elders in their society? A great example of healthy aging are the Rarámuri or Tarahumara Native American people of northwestern Mexico who are renowned for their long-distance running ability both young and old.
Simply put: the single biggest difference between senior patients is how they think about their challenges. Those that attribute their aches and pains to a recent workout are almost always the ones that look and feel younger than their peers. Aging is inevitable, but the way we choose to eat, move, and especially think makes the biggest difference in how we age.
Food for thought: You either get better with age, or worse. Which outlook serves you the most?
